How we make these guides
Pet Environment answers one question per animal: what does a healthy home for it need, and what will that cost?
Where the numbers come from
Each guide is drafted with AI assistance from current care sheets and references — veterinary school handouts, species care organizations and established keeper resources — and every page lists the sources it was built from. Where sources disagree, we give the more conservative modern recommendation: larger enclosures, proper UVB, and none of the outdated practices (fishbowls, heat rocks, loose sand for juveniles) that still circulate.
Before a guide is published, its numbers are checked automatically against ranges that real animals live in, so a typo or a Celsius figure can't slip through, and each guide must cite at least three sources.
What this isn't
Care guidance, not veterinary advice. Individual animals vary; if yours is unwell, see a vet who treats exotics.
How the site is paid for
Shopping links go to Amazon searches, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Links never change what a guide recommends.
Corrections
Spotted a number that's wrong or out of date? We'd like to fix it — corrections are reviewed and the guide's date updated.
